Atocha

We got to the Atocha train station and walked inside to see the strangest thing. In the old glassed in waiting area, they have built a tropical rain forest. Now, in Madrid it is rather dry, and in tropical rain forests it is quite wet, so they had tens of huge misters, twenty feet up continuously misting these plants. It was quite humid.

We wandered around the train station, finally realizing that the train to Segovia was over two hours each way. We may try to do it tomorrow, but since I have to go to work in the evening, I sort of doubt we will take that much time out of the day. We did buy some Metro (subway) tickets that I will be using to get back and forth to the convention center.

The train station is a short walk to The Prado, one of the most famous museums in the world. It is an old palace that has been converted for public use (sound familiar?) and has some wonderful pieces in it.
